Cayenne Chilli
With it’s origins in French Guyana it is a bushy plant that can grow up to a metre in height, with fruits 4 to 6 inches long. These thin fleshed chillies are very widely available fresh in green or red depending whether or not they’ve been ripened on the bush. They have a distinctive acidic, tart flavour.
Used in chilli sauces but it’s main use is in powdered form as cayenne pepper. There are now a variety of sizes and colours of this popular chilli.
